Mental Day: Right Brain

With my classes being cancelled my day started out pretty dull and boring. If I had known it was cancelled I seriously would not have taken a shower or gotten dressed. would you??oh Song of the Day! duh. SOTD

Lets talk Art/Politics. If you haven't heard of Ai Wei Wei he is this amazing activist and artist (artivist? arctivist?) One of his many accomplishments is the Olympics Birds Nest Stadium for Beijing, China in the 2008. He is not the ideal man but he is someone with a passion I admire.  When a disaster strikes we feel bad for a few weeks and it washes away slowly from our thoughts. People like Ai Wei Wei do not wait for a change, they push and shove to make sure events don't leave our minds. His attempt to move China towards a direction of democracy and freedom of expression is what I admire. His Documentary Ai Wei Wei:Never Sorry is on Netflix right now and I recommend it to everyone.
Here is a video of him from youtube to get you loving this bear : Ai WeiWei Style

While you're at it...
There is a documentary called 'Exit through the Gift Shop' following a French man living in California known as "Mr. Brainwash". At first I admired his work documenting graffiti artists such as Space Invader, Shepard Fairey and most famously Banksy. When you get the idea of the documentary and "Mr.Brainwash" you will leave feeling quite different about artists, those who make art, and their followers.

As they say...Ignorance is Bliss

In more interesting events I was surfing the inter web(?). And I landed on the weird side of youtube so here are some things I found interesting.

1. Man doesn't eat for 70 years.  Mr.M
2. Monk that can lift his body with only two fingers. wahh? who chose the music?

Chinatown Parade

SOTD

I really should have posted this yesterday but yes I did go the parade in Chinatown NYC.
It was super windy and cold that day but we had so much fun.
What made me such a proud Asian, although not Chinese, was that there were people in the parade supporting LBGT community. They even had their own rainbow Snake. Loved it!

We ended the day looking through Chinatown for this amazing place called Mei Li Wah where they serve one of the best Siopao sounded out like sho-pow (Steamed Pork Buns) for 90 cents each. Awesome day.
